The waterproof performance and sealing of the Shower Cabins are one of its core functions, which is directly related to the user experience and the dry-wet separation effect of the overall bathroom environment. If it is not installed properly, it may cause problems such as leakage, seepage or mold growth. Here are some detailed steps and tips to help you ensure the waterproof performance and sealing of the shower room during installation.
Preparation before installation
Check the flatness of the floor and wall
Before installing the shower room, you must ensure the flatness of the floor and wall. If the floor is uneven, it may cause the shower room frame to tilt, which will affect the fit of the sealing strip.
Use a level to check the floor and wall, and adjust them with cement mortar or other leveling materials to ensure that the foundation surface is flat.
Reserve drainage slope
The floor of the bathroom should be designed with a certain drainage slope (usually 1%-2%) to ensure that the water can flow smoothly to the floor drain and avoid water accumulation.
Ensure that the floor drain position is aligned with the drain outlet of the shower room to avoid water seepage due to poor drainage.
Choose high-quality sealing materials
Sealing strips and glass glue are key materials for shower room waterproofing. Choosing high-quality anti-mildew silicone and anti-aging sealing strips can effectively improve the waterproof performance.
Make sure that the size of the sealing strip matches the shower room frame and has good flexibility and anti-aging performance.
Key steps in the installation process
Correctly install the frame
The aluminum alloy or stainless steel frame of the shower room needs to be firmly fixed to the ground and wall. Use expansion screws or other special fixings to ensure that the frame will not loosen.
The verticality and horizontality of the frame are very important and need to be repeatedly calibrated with a level to avoid poor sealing due to frame tilt.
Glue sealing
Glass and frame joint: Apply anti-mildew silicone evenly at the joint between the glass and the frame to ensure no gaps. When applying glue, keep the glue line even and free of bubbles.
Frame and wall joint: The contact surface between the frame and the wall also needs to be glued and sealed to prevent moisture from penetrating into the wall.
Bottom sealing treatment: The gap between the bottom of the shower room and the ground is a high-incidence area for water leakage. It is recommended to install a special waterproof strip at the bottom and seal it with silicone.
Installing glass door
The hinges or rails of the glass door need to be installed precisely to ensure that the door opens and closes smoothly and fits tightly with the frame.
Install anti-collision rubber strips or waterproof strips between the glass door and the ground to prevent water from seeping out from the bottom of the door.
Testing the sealing
After the installation is completed, perform a sealing test. You can use a nozzle to spray water around the shower room to observe whether there is any leakage.
If a leak is found, the glue should be repaired or the position of the sealing strip should be adjusted in time.
Precautions and common problems
Avoid excessive force
During the installation process, avoid tightening the screws or squeezing the frame with excessive force to avoid deformation of the frame and affect the sealing performance.
Preventing colloid cracking
Silicone takes a certain amount of time to cure. Avoid touching or moving the shower room parts before it is fully cured.
After curing, check the status of the silicone regularly and repair cracked or aged parts in time.
Avoid scratching with hard objects
During the installation process, avoid using sharp tools to scratch the surface of the glass or frame to avoid damaging the coating or sealing strip.
Ensure smooth drainage
The drainage system of the shower room must be well connected to the floor drain to avoid blockage or poor drainage. Clean the floor drain and drain regularly to prevent the accumulation of hair or other debris.
Scientific installation and maintenance measures can not only extend the service life of the shower room, but also provide a comfortable and safe bathroom environment for the family.
